Abby *a sneak*

I know I said I was taking a lil break, but my sis Abby (or Aunt "Ah-bah" as a certain adorable little boy says) has been sick with the black plague all week. Okay, so it might not be the plague, but I haven't really laid eyes on her for fear of catching her week-long ailment. Super active toddler + sick mommy = not happening! Although we've corresponded on Facebook, I thought I'd post one little sneaker of her with the lovely Miss C from last month to make her smile.

Confession

So I guess it's clear by now that I broke my little blog goal - boo hoo! But it was actually more intentional than it seems. I had a session cancel this weekend, so for the next week or so while I have some photog down time, I'm going to spend the time I would take blogging on reading more about the technical side of photography and getting inspired artistically. I won't be gone long though! In February, I have 3 senior sessions with my fabulous reps and I'm itching to sneak in an 18 month shoot with my own little babe :o) So check back soon!

Anyone else ready for spring?

Hayden and I got a taste of spring yesterday. The weather was in the mid-50s, the sun was shining, there were blue skies everywhere, we played outside...and then 2 hours later it was overcast and has rained off and on ever since. I enjoy Georgia's changing seasons, but with a super active toddler who hates being stuck inside, I'm ready for some warmer weather. But winter did have its good moments. Things I love about winter:

  • all things Christmas
  • Starbucks peppermint mochas and vanilla lattes
  • making homemade soup on a cold day
  • cute scarves
  • the one snow day we usually get
  • having a fire in the fireplace (one of Hayden's obsessions)
But I'm looking forward to these things in the spring:
  • playing with H outside every day
  • health - it seems like everyone right now is sick all the time
  • a spring round of pre or post-Easter mini-sessions that I'm planning in my head
  • having more family sessions in general! Who wants an outdoor session in freezing weather?
  • flowers blooming
  • Starbucks frappachinos (I might be a teensy bit of a coffee addict.)
  • so much more!
Ready when you are, spring!

Uncle Will

I'm ashamed to admit that I missed yesterday in my every-other-day blogging venture! I planned to do a cute post on Hayden's 18 month "birthday" and get a few pictures of him, but when we went outside with the camera to play, he didn't want to do anything but hang on my leg and whine, and those would NOT have been cute images to post.

Hayden has FIVE uncles, but I've decided to dedicate this post to Uncle Will, one of Hayden's best pals who recently moved to Mississippi for college. Will and Hayden have totally bonded since H started walking (and running, and climbing....) On a daily basis, they would build blocks, climb stairs, look for the moon (Hayden's current obsession), and read books. H loves his 4 other uncles, but we've been a little lost without Will :o( Here are a few images I shot the day before he left us! Miss you, Will!

Miss C

My senior representative spots have been filled by three beautiful girlies, and I can't wait to start working on my senior project next month!

But for now, I want you to meet my GORGEOUS cousin, Miss C! These images are near and dear to my heart. Why? Because I almost lost them! Eek! How could that happen?! I had a couple of panic-filled hours, but I got them back and have taken the proper steps to make sure the mistake never happens again. And I'm so glad to have them because Miss C's images are some of my favorite teen images I've ever done. Pretty girl + open field near sunset = heaven.

Miss S

Is anyone impressed I've been keeping up with my every-other-day-blogging? Go me!

Today I want to share some images of my super adorable cousin, Miss S. S and her family came into town to celebrate a belated Christmas, and Hayden just loved her! She played tractors, calmed him down when he was fussy, and found his lost "debbie" (what he calls his paci. Long story.) She's going to be the best babysitter someday. Too bad for us that she lives out of town!

I just love, love how her bright blue shirt matches her pretty eyes. I hope you enjoy these, Miss S! :o)

Winter Wonderland

We ATL-ians appreciate our snow days. Probably because we get maybe one a year, and everyone freaks out. Schools close at the mere rumor of snow fall. And although snow days no longer mean canceled classes, sleeping in late, and hanging in my pj's all day, I still had fun watching my little man take in the mystery of snow.

Happy snow day from my little marshmellow!

Just for reference, here's Hayden with his Dada on last year's snow day at 7 months old. So teensy, so immobile. :o)

First haircut

For months now - maybe even as many as 6! - there has been a great debate among the Davidson fam's family and friends. It hasn't been about politics, religion, or family dynamics. The big questions around here was: Should Hayden get his first haircut? It doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal, but it got heated! My hubby was all for it, my grandmother and a few friends cried out no, my brothers gave me a giant pair of scissors (fake) from the Dollar Tree for Christmas as a not-so-subtle hint at their opinion, and I just couldn't seem to come to terms with the fact that it might be time for my baby! I should've seen the signs that my baby isn't a baby anymore:

1. He runs. Only. Walking is for wimps.

2. His little vocabulary is exploding and more often than not, I know what he means or is asking for.

3. He climbs. Kiddie chairs, big chairs, the sofa, our glass coffee table. He's a monkey!

4. His once-beloved bananas and Gerber dried apples have been replaced with a passion for "cack-er" (crackers) and "cookies" (animal crackers). Oh, and "cookie" is his clearest word and he says it roughly 1,783 times a day.

5. His hair was getting in his eyes and frustrating him.

I was in denial until #5. So after Christmas, Mimi (my mom) agree to give Hayden a little trim. And I do mean trim. He has adorable strawberry blond curls - no around the ears haircut for us! If you know my child, you know that sitting still for anything is not an option unless distracted. So we came armed with crackers and lots of them, as you'll see!

I said, "Where's Mama?" for the one below trying to get him to look at me, but he just pointed and kept munching away!

All done! I don't have a good after image because once the crackers ran out, he was outta there! But we'll get outside and take some after pictures as soon as the Arctic chill leaves Georgia.

But no matter how many haircuts he gets, words he learns, or girls he dates, he'll always be my baby. Love you, H! To the moon and back.

Belated happy new year!

Happy 2010 to everyone! Between a crazy, family-filled Christmas, a fun new year with friends at the lake, and chasing around a certain toddler who jumped out of his crib this weekend (more on that later!), I'm so behind on my blogging. I've never really made new year's resolutions. They've always seemed cliche and silly to me, but this year I actually decided to make a few, but I'm calling them "GOALS" so I don't feel like that girl who made a bunch of resolutions she doesn't plan to keep. My photography-related goal for January is to blog every other day. It'll keep me snapping pictures and thinking creatively. And I need YOU to help keep me accountable!

For today, I'll leave you with one little sneaker of a session I did after Christmas with my beyond adorable cousin.
