Dear Hayden (28m)

Dear Hayden,

This month, I'm thankful that...

you're fully potty trained - ha!

although you show occasional signs of your infamous food pickiness, you've been a MUCH better eater lately. And if all else fails, you'll be a fruit-and-bread-etarian. Those are 2 food groups you almost never refuse.

you LOVED trick or treating on Halloween! Instead of saying "Trick or Treat!" you greeted neighbors with "I want some more treats!" Since you're only 2, they thought it was cute.

you have the most avid little imagination. Just today you "made me a grilled cheese" using a stock pot and a spatula.

you still like to "snuggle buggle" with mama during bedtime prayers.

you have an INCREDIBLE memory. I can hardly believe you've learned 3 Bible verses since October. Your favorite goes something like this: "Loveispatientloveiskindcorinthians."

you're SO excited about the Christmas season, even though I don't think you have any idea why.

although I know the adjustment to having a sibling is going to be hard, you've given me hope you're going to be a great big brother. Just this week, you talked about how you're going to share your blue paci with baby. In your world, THAT is love!

you give the best (rough!) hugs.

you're the perfect addition to our family! I wouldn't change a thing about you, my smart, creative, healthy, happy little boy!

H family *sneak peek*

I think it's just a fact that this bloggy will go on being neglected for just a smidge longer while I edit like crazy person for the holiday season. But I have SO MANY awesome sessions to share once things slow down. Like this one!

Holiday Minis *sneak peek*

Sorry for the blog-silence! I've been a busy bee editing, editing, editing from this crazy time of year. I haven't gotten to all of my mini session families yet (so don't feel left out if you don't see yours - it's coming soon!), but I'm LOVING so much of what I've edited so far. The location was autumn heaven, and I can't wait to share more! But for now, here are a few sneakys:

Baby girl K

I met baby girl K and her mama last month, and boy, was she a sweet natured thing! Her mom tried to tell me that she'd had some fussy, colicky challenges with her little girl, but judging by her content nature at our session, I'm not sure I believe it ;) Little K was amazing as we flipped, flopped, and changed her, and I barely had a single image of an unpleasant expression on her teeny face.

I'm so happy with how these images turned out! For about half of her session, K was wearing a gorgeous baptism gown that had been worn and passed down by her great grandmother, which sweet K had actually been baptized in the week before our session. And our location (Mama C's parents' house) was beautiful and timeless with all kinds of delicate furniture and props. All of these things came together for some deliciously soft and girly images! I tried to narrow down the images I would share a bit more but then remember that it's my blog, and I can share as many as I want to!

Dear Hayden (27m)

Dear Hayden,

Happy 27 months (tomorrow) to my angel! Somehow your 26th month post got lost in the chaos of potty training, so I'll try to make up for it with this post! That's the biggest thing that's gone on in your little life this past month - the potty. As a mommy, I've never felt so frustrated, humbled, proud of you, and relieved as I have with potty training. And as crazy as it sounds, I learned so much about myself as your mommy this past month. I've experienced what it's like to celebrate in your success with my heart bursting with pride, and I've also seen my ugly, perfectionist tendencies projected on you when I knew that no matter how much I wanted it, I had NO control over whether or not you would choose to go potty. I seriously had no idea I could learn so much about myself and my parenting from something as mundane as this, but I think the biggest thing I want YOU to know is that I love you, adore you, and am proud of you whether you're succeeding at a task or struggling and whether you're acting like a sweet angel or an irrational monster (i.e. a typical toddler). My love for you does not depend on your behavior or accomplishments. It just is. Even though I know I don't always act like it. I get frustrated and angry too and am in need of saving and God's grace every day. I just wanted you to know, sweet boy.

On a MUCH less serious note (that has nothing to do with pottying!), the lake is still your favorite place in the world. You absolutely adore your boat rides and love to dance at the head of the boat.

Photobucket

Mimi, Papa, Uncle Chuck, and Aunt Abby are just about your favorite PEOPLE in the world. When I ask you who your best friend is you always answer "Uncle Chuck!" And you pretend to call Abby at school multiple times a day (with a train track piece as a makeshift phone!) You think Papa is the coolest and have him wrapped around your finger!

Photobucket

Your verbal skills are amazing, and we have full blown conversations all day long. Although at the end of the day, I wish I remembered more of them, but my preggo brain is in full force! You still have no idea how our lives will change in a few months, although you like to point out baby brother's crib, tell me how you'll teach him to play trains, and throw in your two cents with his name options. When I ask you where baby brother is, you say "in the tummy!" although I don't really think you know WHOSE tummy. You think you're absolutely hilarious (don't know where you got that, *cough* Dada!) and most of the time you are. Although I'm exhausted by the end of each day, I look forward to getting you up each morning with your smiles and snuggle buggles. And I thank God all the time for picking me to me your mama!

My pretty sissy

My adorable sister (who is a freshman in high school this year) had her FIRST homecoming dance a couple weekends ago and I just couldn't help sharing (please ignore the grumpy Hay-monster). These images just make me want to break into a rendition Taylor Swift's "Fifteen."

I love my sister. MAYBE even more chips and queso. :)

L family

This session. Oh, this session. I big-giant-puffy-heart this session. Not only are the L's a super beautiful family with adorable twins girls and another little princess on the way, we also decided to combine family images with some special maternity ones for Mama L. And while I know it can be awkward to pose by yourself (school picture flashback anyone?), this pretty mama is completely rocking her 2nd trimester! Our babies are due a couple of months apart, and each time I see her I long to aspire to her preggo cuteness. This location is also one of my favorites, and when we were surprised with a hazy morning and brightly colored wildflowers, I knew it couldn't get any more ideal.

L family *sneak peek*

I had to sneak more than one from this session, which is definitely one of my favorites to date. Gorgeous preggo mama + her beautiful family (including twin girlies!) + my most favorite location ever - it can't get much better than that! More to come.

Annoncing: Holiday Minis!

Photobucket

Although our weather here in GA still feels more like bathing suits and fruity drinks by the pool than cozy sweaters and peppermint hot chocolates, autumn is almost here, and the holidays won't be far behind! I'm so thrilled to announce that KDP's 2nd annual holiday mini sessions will be held next month! And what is a mini session, you ask? It's a fun, quick session at a discounted rate at a gorgeous location that I've chosen. Whether you choose to have your whole family photographed or simply your kids or teen, holiday minis are the perfect time to capture treasured images of your loved ones (and snag an ideal shot for your Christmas card!) before we celebrate the end of 2010 . Here are all the details:

When: Saturday & Sunday, October 23-24

Where: A private residence in the Peachtree Corners/Norcross area about 10 minutes from Perimeter Church. While I haven't shot at this location in over a year, I can't say enough wonderful things about it - the yard is spacious and overlooks the Chattahoochee River, it's lined by gorgeous trees, has MANY different seating and backdrop options. It's truly stunning, and we're SO blessed to be able to shoot there. Here's a little sneak peek of a few images I've done there in the past:

Photobucket

Investment:

Option 1: $75 for the session's best 10 images on a high-resolution CD
Option 2: $125 for the session's best 20 images on a high-resolution CD

All sessions will be 30-40 minutes long.

Time Slots:

Saturday, October 23: 9am (booked), 10am (booked), 11am (booked), 4pm, 5pm (booked), 6pm (booked)
Sunday, October 24: 3pm (booked) 4pm (booked), 5pm (booked), 6pm

Contact me at katiedavidsonphotography@gmail.com to reserve your spot!

**Side note: Autumn is definitely my busiest time of the year, so even if you can't make or aren't interested in the mini sessions but know you want to book a regular session with me before the holidays, please let me know your requested date ASAP as my slots will fill up quickly!

Little Miss S

I looooove the sitting-up-but-not-crawling phase! Love. And sweet Miss S was no exception - she just smiled and sat in her little spot while I snapped away and caught up with my old friend, her awesome mama. It was so fun for me to witness the sweet bond between mama and daughter and watch how each adored the other. And what a big-eyed cutie Miss S is! And those two little baby teeth...gah! Is it possible to have baby fever when you're already pregnant? :o)

W family

I was *really* hoping to be more caught up on blogging by now but have been understandably preoccupied this week. 2 words: potty. training. Ugh.

Anyway, I have been dying to share the images from this sweet family! This session was literally one of my favorite family sessions to date - the lighting was absolutely yummy and this family of 4 couldn't be any cuter or more well-dressed. It's rare when I like my family images better than my children/baby portraits in a given session. Not that there aren't some family picture I don't adore, I just feel like my greatest strength is in individual portraits. I'm not sure if that's professionally appropriate to confess, but I'm just keepin' in real. But that wasn't the case with the W family - I'm absolutely crazy about their group shots and can't wait to plaster them on my website (another after potty-training to-do!)

This sweet friend is such a great mommy to her 2 boys and also runs a bakery out of her home. She made a train cake for Hayden's choo-choo party to celebrate his 2nd birthday, and all anyone at the party talked about was how adorable the cake was! (You can check out her website at www.mysweetcake.com). I only hope my own family will be this adorable when we have 2 wild and crazy boys!
