The week before Christmas I met up with this fun brother and sister who wanted to get portraits made to give to their mom for her Christmas present. How sweet is that?! They were good sports as the lighting was perfect, but it was super chilly. I'm not a big fan weather under 50 degrees unless there's snow involved. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly a session can go with people old enough to look at the camera without me jumping up and down while snapping pictures :o) Here are my faves, and I hope their mom enjoyed her Christmas surprise!

MY family
As I mentioned before, Jodi and I had a family session swap last month, and I totally have to share these images of my boys and me (in front of the camera!) I definitely got a taste of what it's like to be a photography client. I stressed over what to wear (I bought 2 new shirts and didn't wear either for the shoot), argued with my hubby over what HE should wear, and prayed for good weather and a good pre-session nap for the boy! It all came together, and now we have THESE awesome images. Thanks Jodi!

M Family
The M family's photo session was all about one thing: Christmas! Miss A and little E were decked out in matching Christmas pj's and Mama M had all kinds of great props to work with - stockings, books, teddy bears, a "tea party with Santa," and of course the Christmas tree. If I wasn't in the Christmas spirit before, I definitely am now! Thanks you so much M's for having me into your home and letting me capture just a little piece of your holiday!

New camera love
For my 24th birthday, my husband got me the most amazing gift. It was exactly what I wanted. I was excited, elated even. I got my Nikon D40. And I knew nothing about it! I was so eager to start snapping professional looking images of my then two month old, but it would be a while before I ever so slowly started to learn the art of photography. But I had a dream and ridiculously cute, captive subject. That camera went with me through Hayden's first holidays, my first, ahem, complimentary photo shoots, and the my first PAID photo shoots and beyond! I'm going to miss my old friend but am so crazy pumped about my new D90! I let the battery charge, oh, about halfway before running outside for a test shoot. Love.

More S Family
Since Jodi and I are both photographers and rarely ever in FRONT of the camera, we decided to do a little photo session swap. I was especially excited as Skip and Hayden have about 4,678 pictures together, Hayden and I have a few, and family pictures are even more scarce. Needless to say, we were due! I'll share some of the images that Jodi took of us later in the week, but for now, here are some more of her and her adorable kiddos, Little W and Miss G, along with Jodi's mom. There is a Mr. S, but he decided to sit out the photo fun this time. Oh, men :o)

M Family
Warning: this post contains way too many images. And I don't care! Meet the M family. Mr. and Mrs. M and their three awesome kids met me in downtown Duluth for this fun session. This was one of my favorite family sessions to date because of 2 things: 1) the right before sunset lighting on the train tracks ROCKED, and 2) Mr. M had everyone cracking up the entire times, so all of these great smiles you see on this family were real!
Mama M also did a great job choosing outfits for her family. I'm frequently asked what to wear for a family session, and I always say to wear colors that compliment each other but aren't too matchy. The bright, pretty purples and more understated shades of blue were fabulous on this family! I hope they enjoyed their session as much as I did!
